Introduction To NC Press Brake

NC press brake, also known as numerical control press brake, is a metal sheet processing equipment that uses a digital control system (CNC) to achieve automated bending operations.It is widely used in industries such as automobiles, aircraft manufacturing, shipbuilding, home appliances, and building decoration, to bend metal sheets into various geometric shapes and cross-sections in a cold state.

1Working principle

The working principle of the NC press brake is based on the coordination of the upper and lower molds, and the precise control of the descent of the upper mold and the support of the lower mold through the numerical control system, achieving the bending and forming of the sheet metal. The specific process is as follows:

1Numerical Control System Programming: Based on the bending shape and size requirements of the workpiece, parameters such as bending angle, bending sequence, and bending force are set through numerical control system programming.

2Mold installation and adjustment: Select appropriate upper and lower molds, install them on the NC press brake, and adjust the position and gap of the molds to ensure bending accuracy.

3Plate positioning and clamping: Place the plate to be bent on the workbench, fix the plate with positioning and clamping devices, and prevent the plate from moving during the bending process.

4Bending operation: Start the NC press brake, and the CNC system controls the upper mold to descend according to the preset program to bend the sheet metal. After the bending is completed, the upper mold rises and the workpiece is removed.

2Main components

The NC press brake mainly consists of the following parts:

1Body: The main structure of the NC press brake, supporting the entire equipment and withstanding the forces during the bending process.

2Hydraulic system: Provides the power required for bending, driving the upper mold to descend and the lower mold to support.

3Numerical Control System: The "brain" of the NC press brake, responsible for program development, storage, and execution, and precise control of the bending process.

4Workbench: a platform for placing boards, equipped with positioning and clamping devices.

5Upper and lower molds: Components directly involved in bending operations, where the upper mold descends to apply pressure to the sheet metal and the lower mold supports the sheet metal.

3Type and synchronization method

According to different synchronization methods, NC press brake can be divided into the following types:

(1)Torque axis synchronization: The synchronous movement of the left and right oil cylinders is achieved through a mechanical torque axis, which is suitable for applications with low precision requirements.

(2)Hydraulic proportional valve synchronization: By using hydraulic proportional valves to control the flow and pressure of the left and right oil cylinders, synchronous motion can be achieved with high accuracy.

(3)Dual servo pump control synchronization: By controlling the displacement and pressure of the oil pump through servo motors, precise synchronization of the left and right oil cylinders is achieved, with the highest accuracy but relatively high cost.
